Our working method

What is your way of working? This is the most frequently asked, and also the most important question from a (prospective) client. Indeed, it is very important that you choose a dismissal lawyer who suits you and in whom you have confidence. This is our approach:

You contact us and briefly explain your situation. We will discuss your settlement agreement or dismissal situation and give you an honest initial assessment. Is your agreement well drafted? Then we will let you know immediately, without small print.

Turns out we can help you further? In 98% of cases, it will cost you nothing at all. Often, your employer has already included a budget to cover legal costs. Is this not the case? Then we will still recover the costs from your employer for you.

Should there be any costs for you, you will always be told in advance and we will ask for your prior written approval.

Our specialist dismissal lawyers negotiate the terms of your dismissal and your settlement agreement on your behalf. We also include legal costs in the negotiations, so you get maximum results without unexpected expenses.

Once everything is finalised, we will ensure that your settlement agreement is finalised properly. You will have clarity, fair agreements and the assurance that your interests have been properly represented. Even after completion, our dismissal lawyers remain available for questions.

Wrongfully dismissed on instant dismissal, now what?

After 19 years of loyal service, an employee was suddenly summarily dismissed because of a mistake in declaring hours. Thanks to quick legal help, good negotiation and tenacity, he not only managed to convert the dismissal into a VSO, but was also awarded 2.5 times the statutory transitional compensation as well as four months' wages. Read how we achieved this together.

Tenacity and legal advice lead to favourable VSO

When his employer wanted to say goodbye to him without a proper file, Jan did not let himself be dismissed just like that. With the help of our lawyer, he remained persistent, negotiated hard and eventually received twice the statutory transitional compensation, extra monthly salary and reimbursement of all legal costs. Read how a good strategy made the difference.

What to do if your employer does not cooperate with a VSO?

Not every employer is open to a settlement agreement, and that can have unpleasant consequences for you. Fortunately, there are still ways to reach a good settlement. In this article, we explain why an employer may refuse, what alternatives you have and how legal advice can make all the difference.

Frequently asked questions on transitional compensation

In principle, you are entitled to a transition allowance if your employer terminates or does not renew your contract. There are exceptions, for example when you are dismissed due to reaching the AOW age. Do you resign yourself? Then the right to a transitional allowance lapses.

The transition allowance compensates for the dismissal and helps you move to a new job. You can use the compensation for training or counselling, but you are not obliged to do so.

After two years of illness, the employer is usually no longer required to keep a notice period. Still, it can be smart to negotiate about this: as a longer notice period results in a higher transitional compensation.

You often achieve a higher transitional compensation by negotiating well. Our dismissal lawyers will look at your situation and negotiate better terms on your behalf so that you get the most out of your dismissal.
